personally, i don't think that it would benefit non specialists, beginners or people without sound fundamentals. the language of the fatwa itself can be daunting to many native speakers of urdu. since the objective of the original poster is to "encourage" reading, trying to start with FR will probably stymie it within a very short time.

instead, one should work with smaller rasayil, that are not related to controversial topics. such as works of hadith (selections) and sirah. or portions from imam ghazali's books such as kimiya sa'adat and minhaju'l abidin. or biographies of great men.

    Allah ta'ala knows best.

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

if you're gonna be conducting this exercise online and on Sunniport, my advice would be to use this facility to maximum benefit - just select random fatawa or rasail of Ala Hazrat (on any topic) and discuss them here and utilize the expertise of learned brothers like Abu Hasan, Noori & others and ask them comments or clarify doubts and so on.

discuss in your own words without translating. post summaries of what you understood, explore the 3ilmi context, scenarios, differences of opinions, ask questions etc.

it will boost your Islamic knowledge like anything, i guarantee it!

To encourage me to read in 2026 (and perhaps others may benefit), I think a reading club is a good idea.
I plan to post a PDF link to a book or article once every fortnight or month. Nothing too long - at the most a chapter from a book. Please do suggest titles in my inbox or feel free to takeover. I read Urdu and English only.

I will drop the first link in the first week of Jan 2026.
