Admin, can this thread please be deleted? It is causing nothing but back biting which is not what Muslims should be doing.

Sidi, no disrespect, but you've literally provided no evidence to your claims. Is it 'I said it is haram therefore it is'. As you know, Islam does not work like that. Especially when you are dealing with scholars of the Ahlil Bayt.

I am a student of Shaykh Amir Nawaz, and it is honestly frustrating to see people criticize him without understanding what is actually going on. Some people seem to have nothing better to do than judge, complain, and stir negativity. This kind of talk says more about them than it does about him. Some people have left the tariqah in the UK and are jealous of how close our teachers are to the Ahlil Bait of Yemen.

And regarding the money, the money will go to a good cause. If someone does not have money, so what? No one is being forced, and no one’s sincerity or connection is being measured by what they can or cannot afford. Turning this into an issue just to score points or stir outrage is just jealousy.

What Shaykh Amir Nawaz and Shaykh Ibrahim and Shaykh Haroon Hanif do is rooted in sincerity and service, and those who know him or have learned from him can see that clearly. Constant criticism, especially from people on the sidelines, does not uncover truth. It just creates noise.

    Haters always going to hate

This is the response of Shaykh Umar Khatib who is one of the teachers of Shaykh Ibrahim Osi Efa based in Tarim,Yemen. It has been forwarded on WhatsApp.

Translation: if it is proven then it is a matter that everyone instinctively finds objectionable. I believe that Habib Umar has already reached the root of this matter. May Allah reward with goodness everyone who mentioned it.

I highly respect the Shaykh for coming out and speaking the truth. We hope that Greensville admit their fault and apologise.

suht refers to unlawful and impure earnings, meaning wealth that is acquired through haram and forbidden means. The word suht carries the sense of something filthy, corrupt, and spiritually destructive. Allah condemns those who consume suht, describing them as people who listen to falsehood and devour forbidden wealth.

Classical Islamic scholars explained that suht includes money taken through bribery, interest, fraud, deception, false testimony, and abuse of authority. It also includes taking payment for religious acts that are meant to be acts of worship, such as selling fatwas, charging for supplication, or turning religious services into transactions that exploit people’s beliefs and emotions. In this case, they were shamelessly trying to solicit donations to give salam to the Prophet salallahu 'alayhi was salam.

I am shocked it could cross a sunni mind to attach fundraising for such a pure act. It exploitation, su adab and create the false impression that spiritual access depends on how rich you are. Turning salams into a fundraiser is definitely as low as it gets.

I hope that the institute will acknowledge the mistake, offer an apology, and move forward with a sincere commitment to never repeat such actions. Unfortunately, when confronted with the truth, it is often the case that people retreat into defensiveness, pride, and ego rather than reflection and accountability. I hope, however, that this will not be the case here, and that wisdom and humility will prevail.

Please forgive me for my ignorance. What is Suht?

If this is haram then does mean that the donations should be returned and an apology given?

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

Every now and again you will see these fundraisers in the west selling their “services” for noble causes like raising money for a Kenyan orphanage or something of that sort.

I had linked a Facebook post by someone way back in 2010 or something about a guy who offered to pray 10 rakats of tahajjud for every $100 donation for some super noble cause or something and his target was $10,000 but as he promised, ‘that’s a lot of praying to do but I’m dedicated to my cause’… yeah it’s seriously demented.

    sub'HanAllah.

this is haram and would be specifically termed as "suHt"

one need not go to be present at the rawdah to give salam - one can send salat/salam from anywhere. the presence at the rawdah is a special privilege, meaning even physical closeness to the habib sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam.

the practice of doing wasiyyah - or requesting visitors to present the salam at the rawdah - is an indication of one's love and reverence to the Prophet sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. in other words: "i am your servant ya RasulAllah, but i am unable to be present myself in your court. hence i am sending this gift of salat/salam. please accept it". similar to people requesting one another for dua.

and the bearer - is bound to deliver the salam (unless he forgets etc). charging fees for this "service" is similar to charging fees for dua.

    wAllahu a'alam.
    nas'alu Allah al-aafiyah.

Assalamu Alaikum. I have come across a video circulating from the Greensville Trust. The video states that anyone who donates £1575 to the charity will have their name mentioned by Habib Kadhim from Yemen at the Rawza mubarak, and will also be 'introduced' to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The offer is limited to those who donate the exact amount, and the windows for donations were opened by Sidi Amir Nawaz.

Is fundraising in this way allowed in Islam?
